Workaway in a nutshell is a website where “hosts” can advertise specific jobs or tasks they need doing around their house/garden/farm/b&b/campsite/eco build, etc. In return they primarily offer you accommodation and food. Every host is different, and with literally thousands of people looking for a helping hand there will be something suited to everyone. This is a great way to help integrate into a local area, something that could be tricky if you’re arriving disguised as a tourist. Create a profile, there’s a yearly fee of around £30ish, let people know what skills you may or may not have and then message people. Be sure to check out the reviews, look out for warning signs. It’s helpful if the hosts have pictures, as you can get a better idea of the environment. Try not to commit to a lengthy stay, as you can never be sure if you will get on.
